1. DAY TOURS AND EXCURSIONS
A day tour on the hop on, hop off sight-seeing bus around the mother city gives the perfect idyllic getaway. One of the top places to visit is Camps Bay, about 15 mins from the city centre. Whether a walk or picnic on its beautiful white sand beaches, or a taste of the sumptuous seafood from the ergonomic hotels and restaurants, the iconic seaside suburb of Camps Bay is your ultimate hangout joint when you’re in Cape Town. The expansive ocean views will be engulfed in your memory for years to come.
Another breath-taking location is at Cape Point. The hour and a half long journey from Cape Town to Cape Point is made totally worth it by the spectacular sights at Cape Point, not discounting the funicular ride up to the most powerful lighthouse on the South African coast and a mouth-watering meal by the ocean side at the Two Oceans Restaurant. The Cape Point National Reserve also offers its visitors great scenery of the wild, including ostrich, zebra, baboons and even various fauna. Visitors can get there via a scheduled tour, but if not, one can simply hire a car to the reserve, while stopping to view the charismatic penguin colony at Boulders Beach and back along one of the city’s beautiful white sand beaches.
2. VISIT TO THE WORLD OF BIRDS WILDLIFE SANCTUARY AND MONKEY PARK
Located in Hout Bay, a suburb of Cape Town just 30 mins from the city, is the largest bird park in Africa that is home to over 3,000 birds of 400 different species. 3. VISIT TO THE TABLE MOUNTAIN
The famous Table Mountain, one of the oldest mountains in the world, is a flat-topped mountain overlooking the mother city and is a prominent landmark and tourist attraction in South Africa. At approximately 20 mins from the city, a visit to the mountain gives you the opportunity to take the cable car up to the top of the mountain or if you fancy fitness, then hike your way up to have an aerial view of the city.
The Table Mountain is home to rich biodiversity including unique floral kingdoms and different wildlife, being a landmark to the Table Mountain National Park. With a restaurant at the top and various dams that offer the ideal picnic spots, this is the perfect place to check off your Cape Town bucket list.
4. VISIT TO THE VICTORIA AND ALFRED WATERFRONT
The V & A Waterfront, situated at the heart of Cape Town’s oldest working harbour, is a complex that hosts a myriad of activities to indulge in. From 5 – star restaurants and food markets, to a shopping mall and an aquarium with more than 3,000 marine creatures, including sharks, the waterfront is the perfect cultural and historical hub to visit. And the best part? The waterfront is only 15 mins from the city.
How to get there:
Cape Town International Airport is about 20 Kilometres from the city, with one of the main carrier to the city being the South African Airways. Other carriers also include the Kenya Airways, British Airways and the Emirates. Having arrived at the Cape Town International Airport, you can access the city centre or hotels and any other facilities by means of road.
